Jason has acting credits in film and television including the award winning Fish Belly White, Law and Order and the regular role of Jason Collins on the series Malibu, CA . He is most at home on stage, where he began at the age of 5. Some of his favorite performances include Caliban in The Tempest, Billy in Appetite; an Off-Broadway play for which he received particular mention in Time Out NY magazine, Willum in The Tavern and his personal favorite, Captain Slim Quirk of the SS Merchandise in Space Trek: A Musical Parody of Star Trek where he met, fell in love with and married Lieutenant Yo Ma-Ma. They now have two space cadets, a cat, a dog and they presently dock their apartment pod in “The Valley.”
How did he get there and where might he be going? Glad you asked . . .
Jason grew up in southern Indiana and Kentucky, graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Theater Arts and promptly moved to New York City 3 days later. He worked as a stage hand, carpenter and electrician while struggling to make it as an actor. A year to the day of moving to NYC, Jason signed the contract of his first TV series; Van-Pires. From here, stage productions and other television and film ventures sought him for his talents, for you see, Jason’s degree from Indiana State provided him with enough all around production knowledge that he worked very well in several molds. This combined with an amazing work ethic and being an all around good guy made for an employee and/or business partner well worth investing in.
After several successes, and a move to LA, Jason went back to school and earned a Master’s of Science in Special Education from National University, a California teaching credential for Special Education, grades K-12, and a California teaching credential for General Education, grades K-12. He taught Emotionally Disturbed students for 6 ½ years from the elementary to the high school level before taking over the Van Nuys Middle School Drama Department. He has remained the Drama teacher since 2007 where he has produced and directed such hits as School House Rock Live! and Godspell as well as an annual One Act Festival of student work.
Amidst this maelstrom of great fortune, Jason began a production company with three other partners called Hey Salle! Productions © in 2006 and is presently shopping their copious amounts of brilliance around the entertainment industry looking for the right investor and/or producing partner; one who believes in the preservation of entertaining through socially aware and intellectually sophisticated programming while not being afraid to appreciate a good fart joke.
Call him up, he’s good people . . .
